Shoulder Pain
Who gets shoulder problems? Almost everyone old and young. You don’t have to be a Major League Baseball pitcher to experience shoulder pain. Many things can CAUSE shoulder pain. These can range from liver/gall bladder issues to a torn rotator cuff. A Doctor of Chiropractic will conduct a thorough consultation and examination to determine the source of your condition. Many times, shoulder pain can be caused by misalignments of the spine, ribs or bones associated with the shoulder. VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATIONS are the major unfound cause, especially in chronic dis-ease.
The chiropractor’s primary focus is the nervous system. He checks closely where the nerves (yellow) exit the spine. As you can see on this diagram, the nerves from the lower neck and upper back, branch out to the shoulder and down the arm. Many times, misalignment of the spine can result in shoulder pain. Patients with these misalignments often suffer pain and tingling in the arms and hands as well. This results from ABNORMAL FUNCTION. When spinal misalignment (VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATION) is the cause, the chiropractor will give a gentle push to the vertebra. This is called a chiropractic adjustment. The intention is to realign the vertebra. This takes the hard bone off the soft nerve and restores NORMAL FUNCTION.
